GUJRANWALA – On Saturday, an anti-corruption court postponed making a decision about the PTI President Parvez Elahi’s physical detention in two corruption cases.

After an hour, the decision will be announced by duty judicial magistrate Muhammad Afzal, sources added. “The court reserved the verdict after hearing arguments from both sides,” the sources said.

In two corruption charges, Mr. Elahi appeared in court in Gujranwala today (Saturday). In a statement, the police said that security had been stepped up around the court in advance of Mr. Elahi’s presence to prevent any undesirable circumstances.

At the Gujranwala directorate of the anti-corruption agency (AEC), two charges have been filed against the PTI leader. He is charged with accepting $2 billion in payments from many development projects.

In order to question Mr. Elahi for the cases, the ACE has asked with the court to grant the physical remand of Mr. Elahi.

Following his Friday release from the graft case, the anti-corruption agency re-arrested PTI President Parvez Elahi from outside a court in Lahore.

Suhail Zafar Chattha, director general of ACE, said that the department will appeal the Lahore court’s decision in court. “The verdict has been announced in contrast to the merit,” he continued.

The anti-corruption squad had asked for the senior politician’s physical detention for 14 days so they could question him about the matter. The judge listened to all parties’ arguments before making her judgement.

The former chief minister of Punjab claimed to be innocent and a “supporter of the Pakistan Army” while speaking to the reporters outside of court. He urged the party members to maintain their resolve and their bravery in a message.

A group from ACE made the first arrest of Mr. Elahi on graft-related accusations on Thursday outside of his home, Zahoor Elahi Palace, with the assistance of the police.

The arrest happened after a Lahore anti-corruption court had denied Mr. Elahi’s request for bail in a case involving suspected corruption in construction projects.

According to Mr. Elahi’s attorney, the former chief minister was unable to attend court because of chest problems. The prosecution claimed that the medical certificate presented in court by Parvez Elahi’s attorney was a forgery.

Parvez Elahi’s temporary release request was denied by the court due to non-compliance, and the PTI leader’s request for an attendance waiver was also denied.
