Gilani declines to preside over a Senate meeting unless Ejaz Ch is brought to the House.

Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has declined to chair the meeting unless his production instructions regarding Senator Ejaz Chaudhry of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are not carried out.

The chairman of the Senate, who is supported by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), declared that he will boycott the session following the failure to carry out the production orders for Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, according to the channel report.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, the former premier, also told the federal government that he would not attend the session until his directives were followed.

In an interview with the media, the Senate Chairman made it clear that the boycott would go on until Senator Ejaz Chaudhry’s production demands were fulfilled.

Despite being in his chamber, Yousaf Raza Gilani did not attend the Senate session on Friday after making his declaration, according to the broadcaster.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani’s chamber earlier today, where he spoke about a number of important topics.

It is important to note that Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani ordered PTI leader Senator Ejaz Chaudhry to appear in the Senate session on January 13. Senator Chaudhry was instructed to appear before the Senate the next day.

On January 14, however, a squad from the Islamabad Police failed to carry out the Senate Chairman’s production order to bring Senator Ejaz Chaudhry out of the jail and returned empty-handed.

Without meeting with the prison officials, the police team that was supposed to accompany Chaudhry to the Senate hearing departed.

The police did not deliver the manufacturing orders, according to the prison administration. The jail authorities declared, “We strictly comply with any directives communicated to us in an official manner.”

A number of prosecutions involving the May 9, 2023, countrywide riots are pending against Senator Ejaz Chaudhry.

The PECA Amendments Act is presented to the Senate by the Law Minister.

The PECA Amendments Act 2025 was adopted by the National Assembly the other day, and Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has now introduced it in the Senate.

On this particular instance, media and opposition members protested the measure and left the meeting.

The Federal Law Minister also introduced the Telecommunication Amendments Bill in the Senate during its session.

Both legislation were assigned to the relevant standing committees by the deputy chairman of the Senate.
