KARACHI – As he prepares to take oath as Sindh’s interim chief minister tomorrow (Wednesday), Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqar has declared his intention to address public problems.

Mr Baqar was chosen interim Chief Minister of Sindh on Monday night, according to Dunya News. The identity of the caretaker CM was disclosed just minutes before the deadline.

Outgoing Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Rana Ansar, the opposition leader in the now-disbanded provincial parliament, agreed to choose Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar as the province’s temporary chief minister. They then signed and forwarded the suggestion to Governor Sindh for final approval.

Mr Baqar stated that he had been briefed on his responsibilities and that his primary priority was to create the provincial government. He stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was in charge of staging elections, and that the interim government’s responsibility was to help the electoral watchdog.

Murtaza Wahab, Mayor of Karachi, revealed this in a post on X, previously known as Twitter, just as Murad and Ansar’s deadline to finalize a nominee for the interim chief minister was about to expire.

“This is to inform you that the consultative process under Article 224(1A) between the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Opposition Leader took place on the 12th, 13th, and 14th of August.” Both leaders have decided to nominate Justice Maqbool Baqar sb as caretaker.
