ISLAMABAD – In the sedition case, a federal court in the federal capital issued non-bailable arrest warrants for PTI leader Shahbaz Gill on Tuesday.
Additional Meetings Judge Tahir Abbas issued the warrants for Mr Gill’s arrest for failing to appear in court for the hearing.
During today’s session, the PTI leader’s counsel requested that his client be excused from appearing in court. However, the prosecution asked the court to suspend Mr Gill’s bail for failing to appear at the hearing.
Following the hearing, the court granted the prosecution’s motion and issued non-bailable warrants. He said that the suspect has two options: appear in court to have the warrants lifted or appeal the ruling.
At one point, the court inquired as to when Mr. Gill would return to Pakistan from the United States. His lawyer said that he could not provide a date since his wife was scheduled to have surgery there.
The case was later deferred until June 26 by the court.
