ISLAMABAD (Politico.pk)— Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has stated that Mehmood Khan Achakzai’s selection as Leader of the Opposition will be a great development for the democratic process.
The former Punjab chief minister thanked Achakzai during a phone conversation on Sunday.
During the chat, the PTI president praised Achakzai as a senior and respectable politician, and he expressed optimism that under his leadership, the opposition will play a powerful, positive, and helpful role in Parliament.
It is worth noting that National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has issued a notice designating Mehmood Khan Achakzai as Leader of the Opposition.
Following Omar Ayub’s disqualification, PTI founder Imran Khan nominated Mehmood Khan Achakzai for the role of Leader of the Opposition.
However, the speaker argued that the notification could not be made while the case was pending.
After Omar Ayub dropped his petition, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq issued a formal notification designating Mehmood Khan Achakzai as Leader of the Opposition.
