(Web Desk) – On Saturday, caretaker Prime Minister Kakar said Israel’s military campaign in the besieged Gaza Strip amounted to “genocide” and had turned the territory into a “living hell.”
He urged that Arab and Islamic nations consider launching proceedings against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for war crimes and crimes against humanity under the Genocide Convention and the interim measures request.
The UN Secretary General could be asked to set up a special commission of inquiry to investigate Israel’s war crimes and crimes against humanity since October 7, the prime minister said during his speech at the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit, which brings together leaders from the Arab and Islamic world to discuss the current deterioration in Gaza and future strategy.
The prime minister went on to say that they should also demand the establishment of the international mechanism and a halt to Israel’s unlawful settlements. “We call for a political solution for which it is imperative that conditions are created for a dialogue between the Palestinians and Israel to evolve a way forward through the two-state solution,” he said.
The prime minister stated that the only way to resolve the conflict was to build a safe, sustainable, contiguous, and sovereign state of Palestine on the basis of pre-June 1967 boundaries, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, and he urged Muslim nations to cooperate toward that aim.
Gaza urgently required a reprieve and an immediate and total ceasefire, he said, adding that Israel must be forced to halt its indiscriminate aerial bombardments and ground invasions in accordance with international humanitarian and human rights laws, as well as ensure the immediate lifting of the blockade and the unhindered supply of humanitarian aid. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia convened a Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit, which brought together Arab and Islamic leaders to examine the present deterioration.
The caretaker prime minister emphasized that the Israeli occupation troops were clearly violating international humanitarian and human rights law, and that their indiscriminate and disproportionate use of force constituted war crimes and crimes against humanity. He urged the world community to make Israel responsible for its actions.
Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the need of ending Israel’s terror campaign with an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, easing the siege of Gaza, and providing prompt and unimpeded humanitarian and relief aid to the people of Gaza. He emphasized that Israel, as an occupying power, must be reminded of its obligation to ensure circumstances for the immediate supply of food, water, energy, and medical supplies to Gaza.
