ISLAMABAD: Fawad Chaudhry, a former federal minister in the PTI administration, was placed under two days of detention by a local court in Islamabad on Sunday in connection with a case involving fraud and threatening behavior against a civilian.

After being detained the day before, Fawad was taken by officers from the Aabpara Police Station to the district courts, where he was seen by duty magistrate Abbas Shah.

He protested that his presentation in court had been offensive, so he asked the magistrate to let him see his attorneys, and the request was granted.

The accused was placed under arrest, according to the police, who had asked for a five-day remand. This was because a citizen named Zaheer Ahmed had filed a first information report claiming that Fawad had collected Rs. 5 million.

When the complainant urged the former minister to reimburse the money, he instead promised the complaint a government job in exchange for repaying the sum in issue.

When the PTI was deposed, Zaheer claims he requested that Fawad refund the money. However, the former minister resorted to intimidating him and threatening him with serious repercussions.

Meanwhile, Fawad, who claimed that Zaheer was so revered that he couldn’t come in court, asked the magistrate to provide him access to his family and doctor, stating that he had been suffering from respiratory problems.
