Marriyum Aurangzeb, federal minister of information, has accused the courts of supporting criminal Imran Khan.
At a press conference in Islamabad, Ms. Aurangzeb accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of torching the nation and said the Supreme Court was complicit in this.
According to Ms. Aurangzeb, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) lawfully detained PTI leader Imran Khan, and the PTI sent armed groups in a “well-thought-out conspiracy” to assault government institutions. She further said that demonstrators had been given orders by PTI leaders.
Using examples like the arson of Jinnah House and the home of the corps commander, the PML-N leader said that the courts were biassed against the PTI.
Ms. Aurangzeb warned that if aid was granted to Imran Khan, the nation will be destroyed. She also said Imran Khan stole Rs60 billion and demanded an explanation from him.
Ms. Aurangzeb demanded that lawbreakers be held accountable and urged the judicial system to mete out appropriate punishment.
She accused former chief judge Saqib Nisar of causing the present crisis by issuing Mr. Khan a certificate proclaiming him to be genuine and honest when he was neither. Finally, Ms. Aurangzeb warned that the courts would be treated with contempt if they continued to defend criminals.
According to Marriyum Aurangzeb, everyone involved in the Al-Qadir Trust case should be severely punished. She stressed that sending the message that courts were willing to compromise on justice would be disastrous if Imran Khan were to be granted any relief in this case.
She stated that relief to Imran Khan by SC would suggest the court given Imran Khan a “license to murder’.
Ms. Aurangzeb is a firm believer that justice must be done and that efforts to thwart it would only backfire.
