ISLAMABAD – Despite having been granted bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Senator Azam Swati was not freed on Monday.

The court had not yet received the bonds for bail since the IHC’s complete ruling had not been made public; both of these events will take place tomorrow.

A senator from Pakistan-e-Tehreek Insaf was detained because of his divisive comments against government institutions.

The head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and other PTI officials criticised Mr. Swati’s detention.
