The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) denied claims of unlawful funding on Tuesday. The PTI counsel stated at the hearing before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that funds were only collected from Pakistanis.
The PTI foreign funding case was heard by a three-member panel led by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.
While continuing his remarks, PTI lawyer Anwar Mansoor claimed that the Foreign Agents Registration Act “FARA” is an American statute established for American reasons and that it cannot be applied to Pakistan, adding that only multinational companies are forbidden from receiving funds. He noted that no unlawful funds had arrived from the United States.
