ISLAMABAD – The majority of cabinet members encouraged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday to declare an emergency in light of the country’s current predicament.
The cabinet convened here on May 9 to examine the situation after the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to reports, the members were concerned about the violence that erupted after the arrest of the PTI head.
The members agreed that the country’s security situation was out of control and that the prime minister should take urgent action.
The premier promised them of “positive steps” but only after discussing with coalition partners in the PDM, with whom he would meet at 3 p.m.
He later postponed the cabinet meeting till 4 p.m.
