Washington (Politico.pk) — United States President Donald Trump has asked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to join the Gaza Board of Peace, a group designed to resolve the continuing conflict in the Palestinian enclave.
The Foreign Office spokeswoman revealed that Pakistan has formally received an invitation to join the Gaza peace board.
Responding to media inquiries, the spokesman stated that Pakistan will continue to actively participate in global efforts aimed at strengthening regional peace and stability.
He stressed that Pakistan continues in regular communication with the international community to assist efforts for long-term peace in Gaza, and that a reasonable and sustainable solution to the Palestine issue must be found in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

Pakistan, he added, will continue to support diplomatic efforts to maintain long-term Middle East peace.
According to foreign media reports, the White House has already released the names of some members of President Trump’s Gaza Board of Peace.
The board’s purpose is to coordinate security arrangements, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction activities, as well as to promote changes within the Palestinian Authority and government institutions.
President Donald Trump has chosen US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and top negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to the board. Leaders from Egypt, Turkey, Argentina, and Canada later acknowledged that they had been asked to attend the panel.
Meanwhile, Israel has rejected the creation of the Gaza peace board, declaring it contrary to Israeli government policy.
According to international media sources, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that Israel was not consulted on the formation of the board. The message also stated that Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar intends to address the issue with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
