The 47th President took the oath of office to "preserve, protect, and defend" the US Constitution within the US Capitol.

Minutes after being sworn in as president for the second time, Donald Trump claimed to usher in a new age of American greatness, capping off an amazing political comeback that included two assassination attempts, a criminal conviction, and an indictment for seeking to overturn his 2020 election defeat.
“The golden age of America begins right now,” he told reporters.

Trump took the oath of office to “preserve, protect, and defend” the US Constitution in the US Capitol, which was delivered by Chief Justice John Roberts. His vice president, JD Vance, was sworn in right before him.

Trump plans to sign a slew of executive orders in his first hours as president, including ten aimed at border security and immigration, his top goal.

Officials informed reporters that the president will proclaim a national emergency at the southern border, send armed troops there, and reinstate a procedure that requires asylum claimants to wait in Mexico for their US court dates.

He will also attempt to abolish so-called birthright citizenship for US-born children whose parents lack legal status, which some legal academics believe would be illegal.
