ISLAMABAD – In accordance with the Supreme Court’s judgment, the poll Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced the poll timetable for the next general election on February 8 late Friday night.

According to an ECP announcement, the returning officer will publish a public notice on December 19, and the time for filing nominations with the returning officer would be from December 20 to December 22.

The Election Commission of Pakistan indicated that the names of nominated candidates will be released on December 23, and their nomination papers would be scrutinized from December 24 to December 30.

The deadline to file an appeal against the RO’s decision to accept or reject nomination papers is January 3, and the appellate panel is slated to rule on the appeals by January 10. The amended list of candidates will be released on January 11, and the deadline to withdraw one’s candidacy is January 12.

The ECP statement further noted that the election program will apply to seats designated for women and non-Muslims in the National and provincial assembly.

According to the ECP, election emblems will be allocated to political parties on January 13, and voting will take place on February 8.
