LAHORE (Web Desk) – Shafay Hussain, son of PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, suggested on Saturday that after leaving the PTI, PTI President Parvez Elahi should start his own party.
Speaking to media outside the Corps Commander House with Chaudhry Sarwar, Hussain said Mr Elahi would be welcome to visit the family, but it would be preferable for him to start his own political party.
He also criticised the assaults on Jinnah House in the aftermath of the arrest of the PTI head in the Al-Qadir Trust case, adding, “The miscreants burned everything at the House.”
Mr Sarwar said that while he was in the US, he attempted to inform members of the US Congress that Pakistan had beaten terrorism on its own, a struggle that the US had waged with billions of dollars. “The entire country supports the Pakistan Army, and we must all work together,” he continued.
Earlier, an anti-corruption court delayed its decision on PTI President Parvez Elahi’s physical remand in two corruption charges after he was detained for the second time. After denouncing the May 9 attacks, hundreds Pakistani MPs deserted the PTI.
Mr Elahi appeared in court in Gujranwala on Saturday in two corruption proceedings. In a statement, police stated that security had been reinforced around the court ahead of Mr Elahi’s presence to prevent any unforeseen situations.
At the anti-corruption establishment’s (AEC) Gujranwala directorate, two charges have been filed against the PTI leader. He is accused of getting Rs2 billion in bride in connection with several development projects.
The ACE asked the court to give Mr Elahi physical remand so that he could be interrogated in the charges.
Mr Elahi was apprehended outside a Lahore court by the anti-corruption commission only seconds after he was released in the graft case on Friday.
Suhail Zafar Chattha, Director General of ACE, said that the department will appeal the Lahore court’s decision. “In contrast to the merit,” he remarked, “the verdict has been announced.”
The anti-corruption squad had requested a 14-day physical detention of the prominent lawmaker in order to question him about the matter. After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge issued his ruling.
