The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fayaz-ul-Hassan Chohan was detained by the Punjab police on Monday outside a luxury hotel close to Liaqat Bagh.
Police arrested Mr. Chohan on suspicion of instigating violence and causing mayhem during the most recent protests.
The former federal minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s home, Lal Haveli, was also searched by the police in the meanwhile, but they were unable to take him into custody.
Sheikh Rashid responded to the raid by claiming that he and his nephew were being singled out by the government despite the fact that they had not engaged in any destruction or violence.
