ISLAMABAD – Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), said on Friday that the governing coalition will stage a peaceful protest and sit-in in front of the Supreme Court on Monday.
It comes in response to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granting relief to PTI head Imran Khan in numerous instances a day after the Supreme Court pronounced his detention in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case “illegal.”

Maulana made the declaration during an emergency meeting of the PDM attended by several political figures, including Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and PML-N chief organiser Maryam Nawaz, who participated via video connection.
In a press conference after the meeting, the Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) president slammed the Supreme Court for granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in all instances after May 9, and for allegedly providing him special treatment. He accused the court of enabling crime rather than combating it and protecting the criminal (Imran Khan).
The JUI-F president further accused the court of exceeding its constitutional and legal powers by directing PTI chairman Imran Khan not to be arrested in unspecified matters. He said that Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Faryal Talpur did not get such concessions.

Furthermore, Maulana accused the PTI of being responsible for hooliganism and terrorism in the nation, as well as disrespecting martyr monuments.
He added that the PDM had chosen to oppose the Supreme Court’s behaviour, and that the whole country will march to Islamabad.
The PDM head cautioned that the demonstration would be nonviolent, but that anybody who sought to raise their hands on them would be retaliated against with clubs, rods and slaps.
He asserted that the Supreme Court will be trained to be the “mother of law,” not the “mother-in-law.” He also said that the PDM still viewed the 4-3 judgement in the Punjab election issue to be lawful.
The PDM head said that the PDM was a political platform and that they would do all in their power to have the Supreme Court recognise its prejudices. “If the ‘ghee’ does not come out of the box with a straight finger, it will be removed with a crooked finger,” he said to reinforce this point.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Police announced on Twitter that Section 144 had been implemented in the city and that no one would be permitted to violate it.
