President Vladimir Putin, according to US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, will not end the Ukraine war with the Donbas campaign and plans to build a land bridge to Russian-controlled territory in Moldova (May 10).
US intelligence believes it is becoming more likely that Putin could mobilise his entire country, possibly imposing martial law, in order to undercut Western support for Ukraine.
“We believe President Putin is contemplating a long war in Ukraine, during which he will pursue goals beyond the Donbas,” Haines continued.
