PESHAWAR (Politico.pk)— Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has addressed an official letter to the Punjab administration, expressing severe concerns over alleged protocol violations and “disrespectful and inappropriate behavior” during his recent visit to Punjab.

In the letter, Afridi noted that the conduct he encountered during the visit was an affront to the public mandate, claiming that he was handled in a “out of line” and “completely unacceptable” way. He blasted what he called needless and excessive security measures, alleging that various public locations were closed, creating significant annoyance to residents.

Afridi also claimed that access to highway service stations was restricted during his trip, describing it as a “grave issue” and emphasizing that such acts exacerbated the situation for regular commuters. He further claimed that a social media campaign was begun to discredit him by associating him to narcotics, and that the effort was carried out using accounts linked with state agencies.

Afridi has condemned the alleged character assassination attempts, warning that such activities undermine interprovincial harmony and demanding responsibility from those guilty. He requested assurance that the event would not occur again, emphasizing that his letter should be considered an official record for any future legal or administrative action.

Afridi said that he expects Punjab officials to lay their cards on the table and prevent similar incidents in the future.
