Jahangir Tareen establishes a group to recruit PTI defectors.

LAHORE — PTI dissatisfied leader Jahangir Tareen organised a three-member committee on Tuesday to entice defectors as he prepares to start a new political party.

Awn Chaudhry, Sardar Tanvir Ilyas, and Ishaq Khakwani will head the committee that will invite PTI defectors to join Mr Tareen’s political organisation.

Meanwhile, three members of the PTI’s “Hashim Dogar group” joined the political camp of PTI disgruntled leader Jahangir Tareen on Tuesday. Raja Yawar Kamal, Mamoon Tarar, and Rai Aslam are among them.

The group planned to contact key KP individuals including as former party president Parvez Khattak and others. Mr Tareen has previously met with former PTI senior vice presidents Fawad Chaudhry and Firdous Ashiq Awan.

Previously, ex-PTI general secretary Asad Umar said that he had no interaction with Mr Tareen but was in contact with Mr Chaudhry.

Earlier, a number of former PTI leaders, including Mr Chaudhry, made a visit to PTI vice chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Adiala Jail to discuss the political situation and the current turmoil among the PTI ranks.

Former MPA Niaz Gishkori joined Mr Tareen’s side on Saturday. Mr Gishkori made the announcement after meeting with Mr Tareen at his Lahore office.

Following the major defections of PTI leaders, Mr Tareen came in Lahore on June 1 to put together a new party, heightening the political fever in Punjab. Mr Tareen took a chartered plane to Lahore after a series of key talks with prominent figures in the federal capital, Islamabad.
