RAWALPINDI :- Sheikh Rashid, the leader of his own Muslim League group, stated on Tuesday that the legislation that went into force the day before might result in a minus Imran Khan and plus Nawaz Sharif combination.
Sheikh Rashid indicated in a series of tweets that he was responding to the NAB notification he got last night. He said he was not there when the Al-Qadir Trust agenda was brought [before the then-federal cabinet] because he had never had any [appropriate] engagement with Shahzad Akbar, the Imran government’s accountability czar.
The former interior minister said that although the whole country denounced the May 9 incident, the current coalition of 13 parties should not turn it a political story.
He said that the Supreme Court was of the opinion that no law could be enacted to favour certain individuals, and that one would have to wait and watch what the highest would do on June 1 – the day it begins hearing the dispute surrounding the Punjab Assembly elections.
“Mr Sharif should return so that the daily argument over the issue comes to an end,” the Awami Muslim League (AML) head said, adding that the former PM had missed the train.
He felt there was no need to explain the situation to the people when the dollar was available for Rs312 and 1.8 million wheat sacks had gone missing.
The 70 million adolescents with mobile phones were wise enough to make their own judgements and could not be duped, according to the AML head.
Later that day, Mr Rashid sent out another tweet in which he provided a copy of his response to the NAB notice requesting him to testify in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
