LAHORE – Fayazul Hassan Chohan declared on Tuesday that he will quit the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and politics, dealing yet another blow to the party.
After Shireen Mazari, he is now the second well-known leader to leave the party. Earlier, despite the court having granted Ms. Mazari bail, she had been jailed for the seventh time in ten days.
Speaking to the media, he claimed his family had a strong affection for the military and that he would continue to expose plots against Pakistan. He said, “No one from the party leadership sought to dissuade PTI leader Imran Khan from engaging in aggressive politics.
He said that I was the only one who attempted to persuade Mr. Khan to engage in nonviolent politics. He was prohibited from attending Zaman Park after being appointed Mr. Khan’s media adviser, the guy said.
He continued by saying that he had told Mr. Khan to keep his battle strictly political and avoid attacking institutions. “I told Mr. Khan that People around you are not advising you right,” he said.
Fawad Chaudhry, Alia Hamza, Murad Saeed, Musarrat Cheema, Shireen Mazari, and other top PTI figures often advised Mr. Khan to oppose the army, adding that he was not even permitted to participate in the PTI’s key committees. According to him, “Mr Khan did not even tweet a single line denouncing attacks on the homes of members of his family.”
According to Mr. Khan, other party officials informed him that Chohan was connected to the military.
Mr. Chauhan went on to claim that he was not left to confront his opponents in the assembly and that former CM Parvez Elahi’s choice of him as his spokesman preserved his dignity. He said that from December to January 2021, “all ministers were conspiring to remove Mr. Khan and former Punjab CM Buzdar from power.”
He stated that every time he attempted to speak out, he received a shut up call.
